Copyright and Licensing
Understanding copyright and protecting your music
What is Copyright?
Copyright is a legal protection that gives you, the creator, exclusive rights to your original music. When you create an original song, you automatically own the copyright to it. This means you have the right to control how your music is used, distributed, and performed.
Your Rights as a Creator
When you upload original music to SoundBridge, you retain all copyright to your work. You have the right to:
- Control who can use your music
- Decide how your music is distributed
- Earn money from your music
- Remove your music from the platform anytime
Important Rules
⚠️ Only Upload Original Music
You can only upload music that you created or have permission to upload. Do not upload:
- • Songs by other artists (even covers without permission)
- • Music you don't own the rights to
- • Samples from other songs without proper licensing
- • Copyrighted material you don't have permission to use
What Happens if You Violate Copyright?
SoundBridge takes copyright seriously. If you upload copyrighted material without permission:
- Your track will be removed
- Your account may be suspended or terminated
- You could face legal action from the copyright owner
Protecting Your Own Music
Your music is automatically protected by copyright when you create it. However, if someone uses your music without permission, you can:
- Report copyright infringement through SoundBridge's reporting system
- Contact SoundBridge support for assistance
- Consider registering your copyright with your country's copyright office for additional protection
